Acne is a widespread problem that many people around the world face. However, annoying breakouts are not the only thing many people would like to get rid of. Inflammatory type of acne may also leave permanent signs of its presence on your skin.

There are many different ways to eliminate acne scars like laser, peels, dermal fillers, or injections. However, if you cannot perform these procedures for various reasons you may consider trying some home remedies. Here are 6 effective home remedies that may help you reduce the appearance of acne scars on your face.

1. Coconut oil

Acne leaves your skin dull and depletes it of collagen. Coconut oil is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids. This acid can make your skin look moisturized and glowing. Coconut oil also boosts collagen in the skin. This promotes faster repair from acne scars. Another component of coconut oil necessary for skin repair is a vitamin E.

Coconut oil contains an ingredient called lauric acid. This acid is effective in reducing inflammatory types of acne thus reduce the risk of scars.

2. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is highly acidic and contains a variety of acids like acetic, citric, lactic, and succinic acids. For this reason, you need to use it carefully on your skin. If applied directly onto the skin and left for a long period it may cause burns. It is recommended to mix apple vinegar with water. You need to avoid applying it on open wounds. Apple cider vinegar may also cause irritation on sensitive skin.

Acids in apple cider vinegar can smooth the texture of the skin and reduce the appearance of acne scars. Succinic acid diminishes the inflammatory type of acne by suppressing the bacteria that cause it.

3. Lemon

Lemon is a great choice to lighten scars on the skin. This squeezy fruit contains alpha-hydroxy acids that have awesome healing and exfoliating properties. Lemon is a natural bleacher that may lighten acne scars. Lemon can also make your skin more elastic.

You just need to cut the lemon and rub the affected area with it. Leave lemon juice on the skin for 15 minutes and then rinse with cool water.

4. Aloe vera

Aloe has incredible moisturizing properties. This is a very important feature when treating acne scars. Antioxidants in in aloe vera may reduce inflammation and swelling. The same compound is also responsible for diminishing hyperpigmentation in acne scars and abnormal production of melatonin. Melatonin is a dark pigment that makes your acne scars more visible.

Aloe vera is a perfect option for skin treatments since this succulent plant is almost hypoallergenic and doesn’t really need a measurement. Aloe might feel sticky, but your skin will really appreciate it.

5. Honey

Honey is a natural moisturizing product that stimulates regenerative processes in the tissues. It repairs the skin cells that were damaged by acne. Honey also has amazing antiseptic properties and contains vital antioxidants. Naturally, this makes honey quite popular for treating acne scars.

6. Baking soda

Baking soda balances the PH on the surface of the skin and naturally exfoliates the skin. It removes dead cells and makes your skin look fresher without damaging it. To reduce acne scars with the help of baking soda you need to mix one part of the soda with two parts of water. Apply this paste on the affected area and scrub gently.
