Have you set yourself a goal to lose weight but for some reason you cannot find enough time during the day to actually work on this? Do you get so tired after work and taking care of your kids that you just want to relax and watch Netflix? That’s completely normal.
But, have you ever thought about working on your weight goals in the morning?
This way, you will have more energy and your kids will probably not be awake yet. Plus, the great thing here is that you just need to change your morning routine a bit and you can see great improvements. So, to help you, we’ve singled out five morning habits that can play a role in you losing some weight.
Sleep in a little bit
No, we don’t mean sleep in so that you’re in a huge rush in the morning and basically late to work. However, giving yourself just 30 minutes more of sleep can make a huge difference. In case you have a strict wake-up time and cannot allow yourself to wake up later, you can start implementing the habit of going to bed earlier. Getting enough sleep is vital for our everyday functioning, as it can affect certain hormones and negatively influence our metabolism. It’s not uncommon to feel hungry if you’re not well-rested – so get enough sleep!
Have a protein-packed breakfast
People tend to think that skipping meals will help them lose weight, which is simply not true. Actually, having a good breakfast can be great for shedding some extra pounds. However, what you eat is crucial. Having a burger will not do you a lot of good. You need a nutrition- and protein-filled breakfast which will keep you full for longer and you won’t have to resort to various snacks before lunch.
So, when it comes to making a meal in the morning, think about making a mushroom and tomato omelet, egg and cheese sandwich and various kinds of yogurt-based mixes. Furthermore, while working on your breakfast, you can also prepare some healthy snacks for later. Having these nearby will help you fight the temptation of reaching for some junk food when you start feeling hungry.
Do some exercises
A workout in the morning will boost your metabolism for the day and thus will help you to lose weight faster.
If you’re thinking about losing weight, you’re probably looking for the best exercises you can do. For starters, try going for a run first thing in the morning. If you have a pool in your backyard or live near one, you can go for a swim. In case you don’t have the time to go outside early in the morning, you can also do some exercises at home. For instance, you can get some equipment like kettlebells, stationary bike or weight rack for a home gym to work on your fitness before you have to leave for work. It’s best to look for pieces that offer a wide range of exercise options as then you can change your training routine when you need to.
Walk to work
Another way to incorporate exercise into your morning routine is to start walking to work. If you live near your office, you can go all the way on foot. In case you live a bit farther, you can park a few minutes away from your workplace or get off the bus a station or two earlier and walk the rest of the way. You can also cycle there if you have a bike.
In addition to getting a quick and easy workout, being outside is also great as you will get more vitamin D, which helps with boosting our mood. Being in high spirits will make you more energized and motivated, encouraging you to stick to your weight goals.
Drink a lot of water
Drinking a lot of water is something that you need to do throughout the day. So, start your morning by having a glass or two of water, as this can help to lose weight. Not only does water reduce appetite, it also enhances your metabolism, meaning that you will both eat less and burn calories faster. Moreover, consistently drinking water will keep you full for longer. Plus, it will remove toxins and waste from your organism and keep you hydrated, which is always important.
These five morning habits should be of great help if you plan on losing weight. Additionally, you should track your daily intake by keeping a food journal and weigh yourself to see how close you are to your goal. Just a few small changes to your morning routine can be enough to achieve success.
