A Journey at Sukhavati Bali

Healing Hotels, Life January 31, 2020 Christelle Chopard
A Journey at Sukhavati Bali

© Sukhavati, Bali

The invitation from Sukhavati Bali has been a beautiful opportunity to return to Bali for the first time after 27 years. My first experience in Indonesia was in 1992. The rice fields were expanding through the hills; the nature and temples were peaceful. During that visit I shared my meals with the Balinese people and they were served in banana leaves. I arrived now into a new reality, with a different perspective and purpose.

We turn towards a small clear road surrounded by tropical plants to find the entrance of Sukhavati Bali. A warm welcome home awaits me at the door in a Balinese style, with a flower necklace, a mala, a serviette and a fresh juice.

Postive Energy

Sukhavati Bali gardens

The entrance door is symbolic. Walking the path we see the door and behind it a Buddha. It is an invitation to a multidimensional experience. We walk towards the door clearing attachments to then pass the portal that leads us to a space filled with light and positive energy. The sensation is as if we enter a temple (within and around).

The resort is located in the heart of a peaceful natural environment. We hear the birds, smell fresh colorful flowers. The villas are made in a Balinese style combined with an elegant luxurious touch to them.

At the arrival we are guided through a visit around the property with a clear introduction of each space and their functions. This clear foundation brings a sense of comfort and facilitates our orientation during the program.

A Sense of Silence, Community and Flow

Whether it is the spa treatment area, the library, the meditation space or the dining area, each area has its energy clearly aligned for it’s true purpose. There is a nice flow in between the spaces, with stairs, trees and gardens to embellish the experience.

We are invited to join the meditation at 12pm, an auspicious time of the day. It is a self-practice. For those who are not familiar with meditation and who like to learn transcendental meditation, Sukhavati resort offers meditation training.

When I arrived at lunch, it has been a surprise to notice that all the guests share a common table. It is a beautiful opportunity to get to know each others as we share the meals. Whenever we wish for more privacy we can request to have the meal served at the villa.

Ayurvedic Experience

The Ayurvedic consultation with Dr. Mithun Rama Raju Indukuru offers clarity. Through our pulses he accesses a lot of information about us. It is like a scanner, as if he can see through us. The insights he shares are directly related to our physical health in the first part of the consultation. He also creates the link with other aspects of our personality, emotional state and lifestyle. In this consultation he determines a program and a diet that best suits us. He also offers prescription of Ayurvedic treatment and medicine. The Dr. is originally from India and as all of his family graduated from an Ayurvedic college. He has been the doctor at Sukhavati since 2016.

Consultation at Sukhavati Bali

All the spa staff received training by spa therapists from India. They are all offering treatments and prepare the medicine under Dr. Raju instructions. The medicine is made from herbal power. At Sukhavati they have their own pharmacy on site where they create most of the Ayurvedic medicines, massage oils and products.

Ayurvedic Cuisine

All people participating in the program shared a common observation after two days into the program: they feel so clean and clear. A reflection of the high quality Ayurvedic food aligned with the programs and body type of the participants. We also learn to use the tongue scraper every morning during the detox program, which supports the cleansing process.

Food at SUKHAVATI Bali

At Sukhavati Bali the check-ups, the treatments and the fresh and healthy food complement each other perfectly. Most of the food is a combination between Indonesian and Indian tastes. The meals are delightful, offer healing benefits and are presented beautifully.

All the team is well informed and we noticed a clear communication between everybody. They are very attentive and respectful to our requests, special dietary needs or allergies, which creates a sense of trust in the community.

Profound Healing

massage treatment at Sukhavati

The Spa Treatment – Abhyangga & Patra Pottali, as well as the Shirodhara are profound healing experiences. Along the treatment, they follow the meridians and balance the Doshas that are in need of alignment. We experience a profound physical and emotional release. Most of the treatments are integrative and many of them are with 2 therapists: 4 hands massage.

We receive a daily check-ups by Dr. Raju for a clear alignment in the program with the treatments, the medicines and the nutrition along our journey to wellbeing.

They offer the facial in our room. A therapist massages our face with all natural products prepared on site while the other therapist does reflexology. This experience leads to a profound sensation of relaxation and surrender. All stress is lifting up from our face and our skin is nourished. We all notice a remarkable transformation after this experience.

Surrounding Beauty

In the morning we are invited to join a walk in the rice field nearby. It is a thirty-minute harmonious walk before yoga and breakfast. All the classes and programs are on time offering a harmonious rhythm in between the activities.

We had the opportunity to go for a bicycle ride to Pererenan beach line, Varuna God of Water. Our guide shared with us the name and the meanings of the temples, the offerings and traditions that are present in the villages that we cross along the way. The invitation to explore the surroundings gives an opportunity to the guests to have an introduction to the Balinese culture during their stay at Sukhavati Bali.

In just a few days we feel integrated and part of a family. The sense of integration creates nice relationships with the people who cross our paths with serendipity.

Sukhavati Bali is a special gift for everyone.

Learn How to Meditate - 7 Simple Tips for Everyone Learn How to Meditate - 7 Simple Tips for EveryoneLearning how to meditate can be intimidating. But as with everything: practice makes perfect. In today’s article (link in bio), Lahra Tatriele shares 7 tips that will ease your journey:1. Before you start, put in your mind, “Meditation is attainable for me.” It is not difficult.2. Sit in a relaxed position for your body – on the floor or on a chair.3. Choose an object of focus that makes you feel good, e.g.: breathing, a mandala painting or a photo/image, etc.
Use this as a tool to bring harmony and love to your mind.
Use it as a way to bring about concentration and mindfulness4. Turn your vision inward and observe your breathing.
By observing your breathing, you will calm your mind naturally.
Observe the fickle-mindedness of your mind coming in and fading away, bringing about a steady concentration. Allow your concentration to turn into contemplation and slowly, you will forget about both yourself and any form, effortlessly blossoming into meditation.5. Become a source of love and light.
Once your calm mind is steady, let love permeate within you and around you like a radiant light.6. For healing, gently direct your thoughts to make your body healthy, alleviate your mind of stress, send your love to someone in suffering, etc.
Bring inner wisdom to your mind so that it becomes increasingly harmonious, and use this for healing the body, trauma or others in your life.7. Let go and let spirit in.
If you know how to meditate it will train your mind to become good, full of love – enough to heal yourself and others. Ultimately, there will be no Form, only Atma or soul in union with the Divine.Do you meditate regularly?
