A Divine Approach to Yin and Yang

Yin and Yang are widely understood as the attraction of opposites. In human terms, it represents an interchange between the male (yang, active and controlling) principle and the female (yin, open and yielding) principle. This dynamic interplay of forces is the dance of existence essential to life. When the yin-yang balance is disrupted, and one side is overemphasized, an equalizing mechanism restores equilibrium.
Our fascination with the dual nature of existence (the yin-yang in all) has kept us locked into a dualistic point of view, where we view everything in a negative versus positive and dark opposite-light approach to life.
A Balancing Act
We can take a holistic approach to the yin and yang balancing act. It encourages us to view life from a respectful and all-inclusive perspective, elevating our perception of the interconnectedness in all things. Rather than pitting the Divine Yin and Yang against each other, they are celebrated for their unique qualities and merged into a oneness that inspires a Divine perspective, unlocking undreamed-of potential.
Tarot decks, such as The Sacred She Tarot, acknowledges the various forces that shape human life and strives to expand our awareness towards a universal, all-encompassing approach. This means working together in cocreation and cooperation to promote well-being for all life forms without bias or comparison.
Changing Times
In the sacred art of Tibetan Buddhism, the literal coupling of deities represents the perfect balance or ecstatic union of two equally powerful energies, otherwise known as the Divine Feminine and Masculine principles. We are habituated to thinking dualistically and live by that interpretation. This double-sided attitude has kept humankind hobbled for eons…until now. Liberated from that standpoint, we can finally experience a collective heartbeat that is common to all. Once fused, the conjoined energies of the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine undergo a Divine transformation that is nothing less than a liberating expansion of consciousness.
When we feel passionate about something, it can be frustrating to face limitations. However, it’s essential to understand that life challenges us to limit not because the attraction is bad, but because unity is crucial for existence. It can be incredibly productive and empowering to work within certain limits rather than fighting against them. Gradually cutting back and simplifying either emotionally or in terms of material possessions can encourage a lighter, more resilient attitude that’s in tune with the changing times.
Self-Awareness
It is important to maintain awareness in identifying the small behaviors and attitudes undermining well-being. For instance, when we experience a loss, our natural tendency is to focus on what we have lost, exacerbating the imbalance by further depleting our resources. As a result, self-esteem suffers, and a cascade of adverse outcomes can occur. This is the natural balance of yin and yang at play, inflating the dark side to a maximum before the light opposite can increase.
Vulnerability arises from being faced with a decrease; in that vulnerability, we need to feel supported. By cultivating a neutral attitude, we reinforce our self-esteem and inspire others. This self-aware response to decrease and loss is compassionate and quite the opposite of what we are accustomed to. It is a kind approach that works toward harmony rather than discord.
It is in Your Hands
Balance is a constantly evolving state that profoundly influences our bodies and minds. Its dynamic nature refines, adjusts, and reveals a living dance that impacts us whether we are awake or asleep.
If you feel you have lost the plot or are cut off from life, breathe, relax, and reconnect with your center, which is unbiased, neutral, and calm. Weakness arises from inclining too far in a particular direction. Whether it’s to the right or the left, this belief or that, by becoming one-sided, stability is lost. Equilibrium can be restored even in the most extreme situations.
Weigh out the effect your tendencies have and their impact on your well-being. We are accountable for our physical, emotional, and mental health, but we are also responsible for maintaining awareness of the changing conditions surrounding us.
Restorative healing can only be achieved when we assertively prioritize the health of our planet for future generations.
A quote from The Sacred She Tarot:
Balancing is an ever-moving dynamic that adjusts to changes in the inner and outer environment.
In the balancing act between extremes, similarities, and differences, the yin and yang in all: nature is revealed as an ever-flowing life force within every cell, every molecule.
By respecting the dynamics of balance, we can weather anything life throws at us. We lose balance and find it again. We lose connection to Self and find it again. Balancing is an innate expression of health.
