In Silence. Just like this.

I am sitting in my favourite chair settling into my morning practice. My hand reaches out to my pen and my journal and off we go on a soul journaling inner exploration.

It feels time is speeding up. In a short time only so much has happened internally (externally too but this is not our concern right now).

I am being taken back to the home of my spiritual mentor. He lives deep in the forest in Auroville, a spiritual community in the south of India. Here, he lives in solitude. He spends days without seeing anybody. I remember at first I felt sad for him and I thought he must feel lonely. But each time when I visit him he greets me with an aura of happiness and contentment. He tells me he spends most of his time in contemplation and meditation.

 

What is silence and stillness, really?

Ancient teachings point to silence our mind as a pathway to inner freedom.

Fast forward. My curiosity has taken me on a silent journey during the past few years.

In western society most people feel intimated by silence. Often it creates a counter reaction and off we run only to make us busy (once again). Even a brief spell of silence in a conversation is immediately overshadowed with some chitchat. Silence is uncomfortable for many.

Are we essentially running away from ourselves?

I say so.

An overactive mind feds us with all kinds of stories to keep us in the loop of busyness. We remain stuck in our habits of our mind.

It took me some time but through self-study and inner contemplation a profound new space opened. In silence one day during meditation.

Just like this …

I have discovered silence as a powerful and expanding state of love, peace and clarity. In silence I drift beyond the illusion and chatter of my mind and streams of ongoing thoughts. And here, something profound happens. Just like this.

Thinking is an obsession of an undisciplined mind. Stillness is a gift from the soul. Only in stillness can I meet mySelf. Here, I am one with Divine Love and Divine Guidance. I am transcending the world’s illusion – and my own, too.

All this happens in silence. Just like this. An innate and natural connection with what is sacred and holy. Just like this.

Just Breathe - A Wellbeing Magazine
This is a recipe created especially for Shrove Tue This is a recipe created especially for Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day, but World Vegetarian Day is also the perfect day to enjoy these Gluten-free Citrus Polenta Pancakes. Right?You will need:
🥞½ cup polenta
🥞30 g rice flour
🥞Pinch salt
🥞1 egg
🥞½ cup rice milk
🥞1 orange or lemon, zest and juice
🥞30g melted butter
🥞1 dessertspoon coconut oil for fryingMethod:
- Mix together all dry ingredients.
- Beat the egg, then add in the melted butter and milk.
- Fold in the dry ingredients. Mix until just blended. Fold in the orange juice and zest.
- Allow to rest for 10 minutes before frying.
- Melt some coconut oil in a skillet on medium high. Dollop in about 1/2 cup of batter.
- Wait for the bubbles to appear and begin popping, then flip over the pancake.
