How Meditation Helps You to Enhance Your Spirituality

While meditation might be considered by many as purely a physical show of solidarity and peace, there is more to it than meets the eye. In fact, meditation is deeply rooted in spiritual practice, where one is able to connect and synchronize themselves with their surroundings in many different ways. People worldwide are beginning to realize how their spiritual wellbeing influences their daily actions and general commitments in their lives.

According to a recent survey conducted by Pew Research Center, around 27% of adults in the US consider themselves spiritual but not religious, 48% say they are both, while 6% state that they are religious but not spiritual.

Furthermore, from other sources, we also learn that meditation has been growing in popularity over the years and is now considerably rivaling yoga as a complementary health practice. The signs are clear; we all are increasingly becoming more interested in investing our time and effort to heal ourselves spiritually.

How to Enhance Your Spirituality

Let’s take a look at some of the ways meditation can help you enhance your spirituality.

1.   Attaining Enlightenment

Many incidents that we come across might be too absurd to offer any form of understanding or comprehension. As an individual, we also have a lot of unanswered questions that can leave us confused and wanting to know more.

enhance your spirituality

Through meditation, a person can achieve spiritual health and enlightenment that can provide a sound understanding of the ideas and notions concerning God, humanity, and nature itself. During the 17th to 19th centuries, the Age of Enlightenment, also known as the Age of Reason, dominated the world of ideas in Europe.

2.   Becoming Mindful of Your Actions

Mindfulness is a state where a person is able to practice paying attention to the present moment. There are mindfulness meditations that enable you to maintain a moment-by-moment awareness of bodily sensations, feelings, and thoughts.

Thus it deviates from rehashing the past or reimagining the future by focusing on the present moment. It enhances your spirituality by allowing us to be more aware of our actions, the present around our vicinity. Consequently we learn how to act in a proper manner towards changes happening in our environment.

Through meditation, a person can increase their state of mindfulness to increasingly sense the surroundings. And this allows them to supersede their previous performances in a given situation.

3.   Connecting With Your Surroundings

mindfulness

While there is no doubt that meditation can help you understand yourself and help you grow into your best self, it can also improve your self-awareness to a much higher degree. This allows you to focus on specific aspects of your surroundings and be able to connect with them.

Not only does this enable you to relate to those around you, but you also become highly aware of thoughts and behavior that can be self-defeating or harmful. This, in the end, helps you avoid bad habits and steer yourself to constructive patterns. Hence it will not only improve your self-esteem but also reduce the feelings of loneliness.

4.   Health & Wellbeing

It is common knowledge that spiritual health inadvertently improves your physical health and wellbeing as well. This is due to the fact that you are able to gain inner peace and able to find a co-existing relation with your surroundings.

Hence, you negate all negative inclinations that can be brought about your actions and behavior in the physical realm. Together, this can work in cohesion to provide mutual benefits for your physical body and your spirit as well. People tend to differentiate between the two and set them apart; however, on the contrary, both spiritual and physical wellbeing are closely interlinked with each other.

5.   Overcoming Negative Thoughts

emotional wellbeing

A person who attains a higher self in the spiritual realm empties their mind and soul of all negative thoughts that can halter their process of achieving peace and tranquility. Through meditation, one is able to isolate themselves from all the negative thoughts that can emerge out of nowhere.

While thoughts can pace through one’s mind without control, meditation can help to gain some degree of control over them, where you can discard them and dissociate yourself from whatever they imply. Hence a person who meditates has a great chance of disavowing negative thoughts and focusing their mind on the good and positive vibes this life has to offer.

6.   Reducing Stress

With considerable practice, people can attain a deep state of relaxation and tranquility through meditation. This allows you to distance yourself from things and people who are harboring ill-feelings towards you.

When you focus your mind towards peaceful thoughts, it grants you the ability to eliminate all other feelings that might be causing you stress and keeping your mind preoccupied. Meditation can assist you in emptying your mind of jumbled thoughts, and this can also result in both physical and emotional wellbeing.

So if you are feeling anxiety building up inside regarding any concern or issue in your life, 10 minutes of meditative retained state can offer you a greater capacity of relaxation as well as the ability to overcome anxious feelings.

7.   Understanding Trust

Trusting assignment writers or even big brands is not easy for people today. Spirituality slowly resides on nurturing trust and building credibility amongst fellow men and women. Honesty is always considered a virtue, and deceiving others is viewed as an act of sin that can rob one of their spiritual statuses.

By knowing yourself truly, you are able to better understand what it means to be trustworthy and why we must not use vile means to mislead others just to achieve our goals. Both spirituality and meditation teach us not to harm others around us, and that one should learn to respect others and build trust within a community.

8.   Welcome New Possibilities

Our perspectives are the ones that guide our actions and behavior throughout our lives. Very rarely do we compel ourselves to look at things from a closer point of view or even challenge our approach to a certain situation or circumstance. However, meditation and regular practice can achieve a neutral state which is less reactive and provide a broader viewpoint about things. This is a very important step to enhance your spirituality.

Conclusion

It is unfortunate that many psychologists and therapists, to this day, remain oblivious to humanity’s spiritual health. However, people are coming together and making efforts to understand the importance of spirituality in our lives.

Hopefully, one day, spirituality and spiritual health will also be given its due notice by science and doctors around the globe. I hope this article was useful to you to understand how you can enhance your spirituality.

Kelly Kolodney, known as „The Angel Lady,“ has spent nearly four decades helping people find their way back to their own inner knowing.

In a new conversation for Just Breathe Mag, she speaks about the exhaustion so many of us carry without naming it, the small practices that begin to settle a restless mind, and what it takes to trust yourself again.

In our latest essay, Maria Ushakova traces Jung’s path of individuation, the slow work of coming to know your own depths, and asks what becomes of our mental health when we look for meaning only in comfort, recognition, and wealth.

Asked late in life whether he believed in God, Jung answered: „I don’t need to believe. I know.“ ✨

In a new conversation for Just Breathe Mag, Dr. Peter Moosbrugger of @sonnenberg.health.hotel explains why illness so often takes hold long before we feel it, and what it means to start listening to the body earlier.

Sonnenberg Health Hotel is a healing hotel set high in the Swiss Appenzell hills, 972 metres above the village of Schwellbrunn. Rooted in the Biological Medicine of Dr. med. Thomas Rau, it treats the body’s own ability to regulate and regenerate as the centre of every stay. Clean mountain air and deep quiet meet a purely plant-based, gluten-free kitchen and a medicine that looks for the cause rather than the symptom.

There is a quiet moment, somewhere after the secon There is a quiet moment, somewhere after the second or third day of fasting, when the body lets go of glucose and turns to ketones instead. Something shifts. Hunger softens. The mind clears. And the noise of constant eating gives way to a deeper kind of listening.

Just Breathe Mag’s latest article follows that shift with the physicians of Marienkron Retreat and Health Resort, Dr. Ulrike Göschl and Dr. Martin Krizmanits, who gently separate what fasting truly offers from the myths that cling to it: the fear of starvation, the harsh detoxes, the truth about coffee, and why longevity is less about how long we live and more about how fully.

Psychology, in its original meaning, is the study Psychology, in its original meaning, is the study of the soul.

Yet modern medicine speaks of neurobiology, hormones, emotional regulation, and inherited traits. The soul has quietly left the conversation.

In part three of her worldview therapy series, Maria Ushakova returns to the questions psychology set aside. What lies beneath instinct, feeling, affect, and desire? And where do the roots of psychological suffering truly begin?

A reflection on ontological tendencies and the layers of the psyche.
