Day 1
I love food! I really do. I eat healthy, but I won’t lie to you – I love those little rewards here and there consisting of chocolate, delicious cakes, all sorts of crisps at evenings with my girls or my beloved glass of wine now and then when I relax on the couch in the evenings.
This is the life – in my opinion. But I also have a strong sense of health and wellbeing and was therefore all ears when a friend of mine gushed about how fit, energetic, purified and reborn she felt after a two-week program of detoxification. And may I mention… she also lost some weight. Reborn and a bit lighter in two weeks? I CAN DO THIS TOO! I have no idea whether I will finish this program, since it’s very strict, but it’s day 1 and I am highly motivated – which is good, since there are 13 days more to come. Join me during the next two weeks of my metabolism-diet and share my ups and downs, food cravings or high-flying spirit. And let’s check on the result together!
I usually start my days with a bowl of cereals, topped with fresh fruit and milk. On my menu today: A cup of black coffee. Thank god, it’s the only day without anything to eat in the morning. This in mind I actually enjoyed my coffee, looking forward to the day and embracing my new, pure lifestyle. It didn’t last too long though. My stomach started questioning my new, pure lifestyle at around 10 a.m., wondering why the cereals took a day off! I was so hungry. I planned my lunch for 12.30 p.m. and boy – let me tell you: My dark cereal roll with two tomatoes and two boiled eggs were one of the best things I’ve ever eaten! My stomach was happy, I was happy – all good. Plus with a plain chicken breast and a salad in sight for dinner, who wants to complain? When the time came I gave that chicken all the culinary love and attention I was allowed to: I fried it in a pan with a tablespoon of oil and had a leaf salad with a few slices of cucumber, balsamic vinegar and a teaspoon of oil at the side.
My conclusion after day 1? I realized how much more I usually eat. Meals hardly ever lasted that short! I also feel my ability to smell has stepped up a few notches. Suddenly the smell of food in the office, on the street or at home cooking is way more intense than usual. Am I already developing superpowers? Is this another side effect? The super nose? I’ll take it. It has been an experience so far. I can state: I am not hungry going to bed, I am still motivated, I am curious about how far I will make it and I wonder if my new super nose will be joined by a super taste soon. Looking forward to day 2. To be continued…
